A Year In The AV World

with No Comments

We are delighted that Ellis Goddard joined the D&A Media team in January 2019 as a Sales and Service Administration Apprentice and has grown and developed significantly in his first year within the role. Whilst he has been here, he has built excellent relationships with his team, customers and suppliers and has developed his technical knowledge within the AV World.

We have asked Ellis to take some time out of his day to answer a few questions about his first year at D&A Media…

What have been your highlights of working here?

Before joining D&A Media, I had no experience in the audio-visual industry and was unaware of the variety of products available to help enhance business communication. Therefore, my highlight of working here is definitely the vast amount of knowledge I have gained about products I previously was unaware of. For example, Lifesize video conferencing and how it connects dispersed teams across the Globe and also the simplicity and power of Signagelive and how it helps our clients enhance their internal communications.

In September 2019, I also attended a major suppliers technology event, this was a showcase of all of the new and upcoming products in the AV Industry and gave me the opportunity to visually experience the products and start to learn more about them.

How has video communication influenced your role?

Since joining the D&A team in January 2019, I have gained a lot of experience within the AV industry and I have created greater efficiency within my role by integrating video as my main form of communication. Due to the versatility and agility of my role, I am able to dramatically reduce the need for email delays, as I am able to organise a quick video meeting to discuss and remotely share my work with my colleagues based in different offices or on site.

The ability to do this means that I am able to leverage the time I would have wasted waiting for a reply, to then be supporting our customers, creating additional proposals and quotations.

What has been your proudest moment this year?

My proudest moment of my first year at D&A Media has to be walking the 10K London Legal Walk with some members of my team and raising an amazing £322.50 to help support charities that provide access to justice. This was one of my proudest moments because it was a great opportunity to personally meet some of our customers from the legal sector and complete the walk with them, whilst supporting a greater cause and learning more about the legal industry.

How do you see your role developing in the future?

I am excited about completing my apprenticeship this year and growing and developing within the team at D&A Media. As a fast-growing business and with the continuing advancements in new technology, I am excited to see how much my role develops over the coming years with the support of my team and new products that will hit the market that we will be able to offer to our customers.

What is your favourite part of the role and why?

My favourite part of the role, is the variety of tasks that I complete on a day-to-day basis. An average day for me includes supporting clients with their existing solutions, providing clients with information about brand new technology that could help enhance their existing solutions, talking to suppliers about upcoming technology in the AV market and creating proposals and quotations for new clients. The variety of the role has enabled me to learn more about other roles within the business, such as the technical aspects of completing an installation and learning different procedures that help enhance the customer experience.

What do the D&A team say about Ellis?

“Ellis brings a wealth of knowledge to the team, he always keeps the office smiling and supports the team.”

“Ellis has fitted well into our dynamic team; with his happy attitude it makes him very approachable to the rest of the team and to our customers.”
